Jody February set for Siwelele loan move from Mamelodi Sundowns

Jody February is close to joining Siwelele FC on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns for the 2026/27 season, with negotiations understood to be at an advanced stage.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper has struggled to secure regular first-team football since moving to Sundowns from Ajax Cape Town in 2019. A further temporary move now appears likely, with the new Premier Soccer League season already under way.

February spent several seasons away from Sundowns after arriving at Chloorkop, using loan spells to gain the consistent playing time that has been difficult to find at the Tshwane club.

He has, however, remained with the Brazilians since June 2023 without another loan departure, despite not establishing himself as the side’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Siwelele are now considering a move for February as they continue to finalise their squad for the current campaign. Talks between the clubs have progressed significantly, although the transfer has not yet been completed.

February’s representative, Mike Makaab, confirmed that discussions were continuing and that the remaining terms were being negotiated.

“Not done yet, but it’s in progress. We are finalizing at the moment,” Makaab briefly revealed.

A move to Siwelele would follow the return of Ricardo Goss to Mamelodi Sundowns after the goalkeeper completed his loan spell with the Bloemfontein-based club.

Goss’s return has added further competition to Sundowns’ goalkeeping department. The club are also able to call upon Bafana Bafana international Ronwen Williams and experienced goalkeeper Denis Onyango, while Reyaad Pieterse remains part of head coach Miguel Cardoso’s squad.

With several established options available to Cardoso, another loan spell could provide February with a clearer route to regular football. The goalkeeper’s previous temporary moves offered him opportunities to play more consistently, but he has been unable to secure a sustained run in the Sundowns team since returning to the club in 2023.

The potential switch would give Siwelele an experienced goalkeeper while allowing February to pursue more first-team appearances during the 2026/27 season. However, the deal remains subject to the completion of the outstanding details between the relevant parties.
