Angers sign France and DR Congo left-back Joseph Kalulu from Pau FC
France and DR Congo defender Joseph Kalulu has joined Angers SCO from Pau FC, completing a move that takes the 21-year-old left-back from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1.
Kalulu has signed a contract with Angers running until 30 June 2030. The Lyon-born defender, who is 1.80m tall and left-footed, becomes part of the Angers squad after two seasons with Pau.
He joined Pau from AS Saint-Priest on a free transfer in July 2024 and recorded two Ligue 2 appearances, playing 133 minutes. His move to Angers represents the next step in a career that began in the Lyon academy before he continued his development with Saint-Priest.
Kalulu spent his youth career at Olympique Lyonnais and moved to AS Saint-Priest in 2021, initially joining the club’s under-19 side. He later progressed to Saint-Priest’s reserve team before moving into senior football with the club.
The defender’s recorded competitive experience includes two Ligue 2 matches. At Angers, he joins a club competing in France’s top division and is contracted through the end of the 2029-30 season.
Kalulu’s arrival also continues his progression through French football, having moved from youth football in Lyon to senior-level opportunities with Saint-Priest and Pau. He has now switched clubs again, this time joining Angers as a defender capable of operating at left-back.
The transfer was completed on 19 August 2026, with Kalulu leaving Pau FC for Angers SCO and committing his future to the Ligue 1 club until June 2030.
