Burkina Faso-born midfielder Chec Bebel Doumbia joins Rapid FC on loan
Burkina Faso-born midfielder Chec Bebel Doumbia has joined Romanian side Rapid FC on loan from Genoa as he continues his development after progressing through Italian football.
The 18-year-old central midfielder will spend the next stage of his career in Romania after Genoa agreed to send him to Rapid FC on a temporary basis.
Doumbia began his football education in Italy, coming through the youth ranks at SSD Casarano before moving to Altamura. His progress eventually led him to Genoa, where he continued his development within the club’s system.
The midfielder’s performances have earned him increasing recognition at Genoa, and he was included in the first-team squad during the club’s pre-season preparations despite his young age.
Doumbia was given the opportunity to feature in Genoa’s most recent friendly, playing against Leicester City.
Genoa won the match 1-0, giving the teenager further experience of senior football as he continues to make the transition from youth football.
His loan move to Rapid FC will now provide another opportunity to develop away from Genoa while gaining experience in Romanian football.
For Doumbia, the move represents another step in a career that has so far been shaped by his development within the Italian football system.
The central midfielder has already progressed from youth football at Casarano and Altamura to being involved with Genoa’s senior squad during pre-season.
His appearance against Leicester underlined the progress he has made at Genoa, while the move to Rapid FC will allow him to continue building his experience at senior level.
At 18, Doumbia remains at an early stage of his career, but his progression through Italian football has now taken him to Romania as he looks to continue developing his game.
The temporary move gives the Burkinabe-born midfielder the chance to take another step forward after being exposed to first-team football at Genoa during the pre-season.
