Senegal winger Pape Ibrahima Ndir joins HJK Helsinki on loan
Pape Ibrahima Ndir has joined Finnish side HJK Helsinki on loan from Senegalese club Olympique Thiessois, with the deal including an option to make the move permanent.
The 19-year-old winger becomes the latest young Senegalese player to take his career beyond the domestic game, having previously played only in Senegal.
Ndir is left-footed and usually operates from the right wing. His move to HJK represents an important step in his development as he begins his first experience of football outside Senegal.
HJK are one of the most prestigious clubs in Finnish football, and Ndir says he is determined to make the most of the opportunity and help the club compete for silverware.
“I am truly delighted to have the opportunity to join HJK. It’s the biggest club in the country, and I want to give my all to win trophies with this great club. I am ready to give everything to achieve our goals,” said Pape Ibrahima.
The teenager has already begun working with HJK’s first team after completing his initial training sessions with the club.
His arrival has also been welcomed by HJK sporting director Petri Vuorinen, who believes the young winger has the qualities needed to develop into an important attacking player.
“Ndir is very comfortable on the ball and knows how to protect it perfectly. His potential is extremely high,” the director emphasized.
Vuorinen also stressed that adapting to European football will be an important part of Ndir’s development following his move from Senegal.
The loan agreement gives HJK the option to sign Ndir permanently, meaning his performances during his time in Finland could play an important role in determining his future.
For Ndir, the immediate focus will be on adapting to his new surroundings and competing for a place in the HJK first team.
He could make his first appearance for the Finnish club in their upcoming match against IF Gnistan, giving the Senegalese teenager an early opportunity to show what he can offer in his new colours.
The move marks a significant new chapter for Ndir, who will now look to build on his experience in Senegal while beginning his European football journey with HJK Helsinki.
