Majdi Abdelghani criticizes Al-Ahly officials over Mahmoud El Zanfaly’s deal

Majdi Abdelghani, the former star of Al-Ahly and the Egyptian national team, launched a scathing critique against the officials of Al-Ahly, specifically addressing the recent acquisition of Mahmoud El Zanfaly, the goalkeeper of the first football team at Al-Dakhleya.

Al-Ahly recently announced the signing of Mahmoud El Zanfaly on a six-month loan with the intention of a permanent deal.

Speaking in a television interview on MBC Egypt, Majdi Abdelghani expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, “Is it suitable for Al-Ahly to sign El Zanfaly? With all due respect to El Zanfaly, his statistics are not impressive.

The club should have signed a goalkeeper with experience, such as Mohamed Abu Gabal, Mohamed Bassam, or Ali Lotfi.”

He further commented, “Ali Lotfi, who is still linked to Al-Ahly, and they wanted to bring him back! Who is held accountable for this? No one is held accountable for squandering public money.”

Abdelghani’s remarks highlight his concern over the decision-making process at Al-Ahly, emphasizing the need for accountability and a more meticulous approach in the club’s player recruitment strategy.

The critique raises questions about the standards and criteria utilized in assessing potential acquisitions, urging a more prudent use of the club’s financial resources.
