Marcelo Allende says he is “100% focused” on Mamelodi Sundowns despite uncertainty over his future at the South African champions.

The Chilean midfielder, 27, is entering the final year of his contract after joining Sundowns from Montevideo City Torque in 2022 on an initial five-year deal.

Questions about Allende’s position at the club increased last season following the emergence of Jayden Adams and the player’s reported ambition to regain his place in the Chile national team.

Sundowns had reportedly been prepared to consider offers for the midfielder during the off-season. However, the lack of firm interest, alongside the tragic passing of Adams, means Allende remains with the club.

Asked by iDiski Times whether he was focused and ready for the new season after being linked with a move away, Allende said: “Yes, 100% focused here in my last year in the club, I don’t speak with everyone, but as I say to you I’m very focused with everything,”

He added: “If I need to play I will always give my 100%, if not, also I support the team. I think it’s that most important to always to get results [as a team] and bring good things to the club.”

Allende has made 177 appearances for Sundowns in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 16 assists.
