Michy Batshuayi joins Abha as Belgian striker begins new Saudi Pro League chapter

Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi has joined Abha from Frankfurt, moving to the Saudi Pro League club on 17 August 2026.

The 32-year-old centre-forward arrives after 18 months with Frankfurt, having joined the German club from Galatasaray in February 2025. Batshuayi made the move to Frankfurt after helping Galatasaray win the Turkish title and Turkish Cup during the 2024-25 season.

Batshuayi’s switch to Abha marks the latest step in a senior career that has taken him through Belgium, France, England, Germany, Spain and Turkey. He began his senior career with Standard Liege before moving to Marseille in 2014, where his performances earned him a €39m transfer to Chelsea in 2016.

During his time at Chelsea, Batshuayi won the Premier League title in the 2016-17 season and the FA Cup in 2018. He also spent periods on loan at Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace, gaining experience in the Bundesliga, La Liga and the Premier League.

His record includes 77 Premier League appearances and 15 goals, while he scored 43 times in 97 Super Lig matches. Batshuayi also registered 31 goals in 71 Jupiler Pro League appearances and 26 goals in 62 Ligue 1 games.

The striker has enjoyed particular success in Turkish domestic football. He won the Turkish Cup with Fenerbahce in 2022-23, finishing as the competition’s leading scorer with five goals, before collecting the same trophy with Galatasaray in 2024-25. He also won the Turkish Super Cup with Besiktas in 2021-22.

Batshuayi was part of Belgium’s squad that finished third at the 2018 World Cup. Born in Brussels, he stands 1.85m tall and is a right-footed centre-forward.

He joins Abha with a career total that includes 10 Europa League goals, four Champions League goals and eight EFL Cup goals. His most prolific competition record came in the Turkish Cup, where he scored 11 goals in 12 appearances.

Batshuayi has now completed his move from Frankfurt to Abha, beginning his latest spell in a new league with the Saudi Pro League club.
