Emam Ashour transfer rumour: Al Ahly midfielder linked with San Diego MLS move
Egyptian midfielder Emam Ashour has been linked with a move from Al Ahly to San Diego in Major League Soccer.
The 28-year-old central midfielder is valued at €5m and remains under contract with Al Ahly until 30 June 2028. No transfer has been confirmed, with the reported interest coming as San Diego are linked with a move for the Egypt international.
Ashour has made five appearances at the 2026 World Cup, scoring twice. He has also established himself at Al Ahly since joining the Egyptian club from Danish side Midtjylland in July 2023 for a reported €2.68m.
His time at Al Ahly has included an Egyptian league title in 2023-24 and the CAF Champions League during the same season. He was also part of the side that won the Egyptian championship again in 2024-25.
Ashour previously spent four seasons with Zamalek, winning two Egyptian league titles and two Egyptian Cups before moving abroad. His spell at Midtjylland lasted only six months before his return to Egypt.
Al Ahly’s contract position means any move to San Diego would require negotiations over a transfer fee rather than allowing Ashour to leave as a free agent.
