Norwich consider move for Saint-Etienne playmaker Augustine Boakye

Ghanaian attacking midfielder Augustine Boakye, who plays for Saint-Etienne, has been linked with a move to Norwich.

The 25-year-old is currently with Saint-Etienne in Ligue 2, while Norwich are competing in the Championship. Boakye’s current market value is €6m, although no transfer fee has been reported for the potential move.

Boakye has started both of Saint-Etienne’s Ligue 2 matches this season, registering one assist and featuring for 71% of the available minutes. He has not made an appearance for Ghana at the 2026 World Cup.

The left-footed midfielder joined Saint-Etienne from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC in July 2024 in a deal worth €3m. He had previously moved to Wolfsberger from Ghanaian side WAFA SC in 2021.

Boakye’s contract with Saint-Etienne runs until 30 June 2028, meaning the French club are under no immediate pressure to sell. He has been used in an attacking midfield role and wears number 20 for the Ligue 2 side.

The link with Norwich comes with the English club considering their options for a player whose early-season involvement has included a start in each of Saint-Etienne’s first two league fixtures. The rumour was recorded on 16 August, but there is no indication that an agreement has been reached.

Boakye remains a Saint-Etienne player under contract, with his current deal due to expire in June 2028.
