Belgian-Ghanaian winger Jesse Bisiwu scores twice as Barcelona beat Basel 5-2

Belgian-Ghanaian teenager Jesse Bisiwu made a late impact for Barcelona on Sunday, scoring twice after coming off the bench in their 5-2 pre-season friendly victory over FC Basel.

The winger was introduced in the 79th minute, replacing Xavi Espart, and quickly took advantage of his limited time on the pitch to make a strong impression.

Bisiwu scored twice in the final stages as Barcelona secured a comfortable victory.

Barcelona take early advantage

Barcelona opened the scoring in the 34th minute through Karim Adeyemi.

Basel responded nine minutes later when Jean Doucoure restored parity, leaving the two sides level at half-time.

Barcelona regained the lead four minutes after the restart when Hamza Abdelkarim found the net in the 49th minute.

Yamal extends Barcelona’s lead

Lamine Yamal converted from the penalty spot in the 81st minute to put Barcelona 3-1 ahead.

Basel immediately responded, with Kazeem Olaigbe scoring from a penalty three minutes later to reduce the deficit to 3-2.

Barcelona, however, finished strongly, with Bisiwu emerging as the star of the closing stages.

Bisiwu strikes twice in two minutes

The 19-year-old made his first major contribution in the 89th minute when he scored after being set up by Dani Olmo.

Just two minutes later, Bisiwu completed his brace after receiving an assist from Lamine Yamal.

His quickfire double sealed Barcelona’s 5-2 victory and gave the Belgian-Ghanaian forward a memorable cameo.

Having entered the game with only a short period remaining, Bisiwu needed just 12 minutes to score twice and underline his potential.
