Karmiotissa bring in French-Moroccan defender Nassim Ouammou from Hassania
French-Moroccan left-back Nassim Ouammou has joined Cypriot club Karmiotissa from Moroccan side Hassania.
The 33-year-old completed the move on 16 August 2026, ending his time with Hassania after one season. Ouammou, who was born in Saint-Etienne, moves to the Cyprus League following a career that has included football in France, Portugal, Israel and Morocco.
Ouammou spent the 2025-26 season at Hassania after leaving French club FC Sochaux in July 2025. His move to the Moroccan side followed a spell in France with Sochaux, whom he joined from Israeli club Maccabi Netanya in July 2024 on a free transfer.
The defender has made 101 appearances in Ligue 2, scoring twice and providing five assists. He also recorded 71 appearances in Ligue 3, with two goals and three assists, while adding 27 matches in National 1.
His career has included further experience in Israel with Maccabi Netanya, where he played in the Ligat ha’Al, and in France with Rodez AF and US Boulogne. He joined Rodez from US Boulogne in 2019, also moving between clubs including FC Mulhouse, GS Consolat Marseille and ASF Andrezieux-Boutheon earlier in his career.
Ouammou began his development in the Saint-Etienne area before moving to Portugal, where he was part of Maritimo’s youth and reserve structure. He later returned to France and progressed through the lower levels of the French game before establishing himself as a left-back in Ligue 2 and National competitions.
The 1.81m defender is left-footed and joins Karmiotissa with experience across several European and North African leagues. His arrival gives the Cypriot side a senior option at left-back as they begin the 2026-27 campaign.
Ouammou has signed a contract with Karmiotissa running until 31 May 2027.
