Rayon Sports consider move for Fountain Gate’s Burundi playmaker Elie Mokono

Burundi attacking midfielder Elie Mokono is the subject of a reported transfer link between his current club Fountain Gate and Rwanda’s Rayon Sports.

Mokono, 26, has been at the Tanzanian club since joining from Bumamuru FC in August 2024. He has featured in continental competition for Fountain Gate, scoring three goals in four appearances in the CAF Champions League.

The midfielder also played twice in the CAF Confederation Cup, completing 56 minutes in the competition. His Champions League record includes 360 minutes and a goal every 120 minutes.

A move to Rayon Sports would take Mokono across the border to Rwanda, although the reported interest has not been presented as a completed transfer. No transfer fee or agreement has been disclosed.

Mokono was born in Kinshasa and represents Burundi by nationality. He is listed primarily as an attacking midfielder and has a current market value of €50,000.

He joined Fountain Gate after leaving Bumamuru, making the reported link with Rayon Sports the latest potential change in club for a player whose recent record has come largely in African continental competition. Mokono remains a Fountain Gate player, with no contract expiry date publicly established.
