Egypt name 15-man squad for Turkey camp ahead of 2027 World Cup qualifiers

The Egyptian Basketball Federation has announced a 15-player squad for the Egypt men’s national basketball team’s overseas training camp in Turkey, which begins on Saturday, 15 August, and runs until 22 August.

The camp forms part of Egypt’s preparations for the fourth window of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers. The team will also play a number of friendly matches during its stay in Turkey as head coach Agusti Bosch continues preparations for the upcoming qualifying fixtures.

The travelling squad includes Amr El Gendy, Omar Tarek, Ehab Amin, Anas Osama, Ahmed Adel, Mido Taha, Malek Abou El Fotouh, Khaled Abdel Nasser, Ali Omar, Adam Moussa, Ibrahim Zahran, Omar El Sheikh, Hamad Fathy, Patrick Gardner and Mohab Yasser.

The Egyptian Basketball Federation has also confirmed the coaching, administrative and medical staff accompanying the players.

Agusti Bosch will lead the team as head coach, with Alfred Bosch and Rami El-Gendy serving as assistant coaches. Sameh Salah will take responsibility as administrative director, while Islam Gomaa will act as team doctor.

The delegation’s performance analyst is Abdelrahman El-Gelad, with Ahmed Fayek appointed as fitness coach. Ali Mousa will oversee recovery.

Mustafa Fawzi, a member of the Egyptian Basketball Federation board, will head Egypt’s delegation during the camp in Turkey.

The overseas programme is intended to provide Egypt with preparation ahead of the fourth round of the 2027 World Cup qualification campaign. Friendly fixtures scheduled during the camp will give the squad further opportunities to prepare before returning to competitive action.

Egypt’s group of 15 includes a combination of established international players and younger members of the national set-up, with Bosch’s coaching staff overseeing the technical, physical and recovery aspects of the programme.

The training camp will remain in Turkey through 22 August, with the friendly matches forming the main competitive element of the team’s preparations. The federation’s announcement confirmed the full travelling party, including the players and the staff responsible for coaching, administration, medical care, analysis, fitness and recovery.

The fourth qualifying window is the main focus of the camp, as Egypt prepares to continue its route towards the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
