Pitso Mosimane’s former staff join Al Fateh ahead of Saudi Pro League season

Two members of Pitso Mosimane’s former coaching staff have joined Saudi Arabian club Al Fateh, alongside former Bafana Bafana strength and conditioning coach Kopano Melesi.

Maahier Davids has been appointed assistant coach, while Kyle Solomon will work as a video analyst. Melesi has also taken up a role within Al Fateh’s technical team after recently leaving his position with the South African national side.

The appointments come as Mosimane prepares to succeed Hugo Broos as Bafana Bafana head coach, adding further interest to the movement of his former staff within Saudi football.

Davids has a long-standing working relationship with Mosimane, having served alongside him at several clubs. Their previous collaborations include Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli, Abha Club, Al Wahda and Iranian giants Esteghlal.

Solomon also worked with Mosimane during his time at Al Ahli. Before moving to Al Fateh, Solomon’s most recent position was with Sekhukhune United. He has also previously been employed by Orlando Pirates.

Melesi’s arrival gives Al Fateh another South African member of staff and increases the country’s representation within the club’s technical setup. He recently departed his role as Bafana Bafana’s senior national team strength and conditioning coach.

Al Fateh have confirmed all three appointments as the club prepares for the new Saudi Pro League campaign. Their top-flight status was secured after a dramatic previous season, with the team recovering from a difficult start to finish 10th in 2025/26.

The club won nine of its final 15 league matches to complete that recovery and remain in the division.

The additions of Davids, Solomon and Melesi represent the latest South African influence at Al Fateh, while Mosimane’s impending move into the Bafana Bafana position provides added context to the appointments.

Mosimane is set to take over from Broos as South Africa’s head coach, while several members of the coach’s previous backroom network will now begin their next chapter in Saudi Arabia.
