Trabzonspor select Onuachu in attack with Salah on bench for Kasımpasa test

 

Trabzonspor manager Fatih Tekke has named his starting XI for the opening round of the Turkish Super Lig, with new Egyptian arrival Mohamed Salah among the substitutes for the away match against Kasımpasa.

Salah will therefore not begin the campaign in the starting line-up, leaving Trabzonspor to start with Paul Onuachu as their central attacking option. The match will be officiated by Gurcan Hasova.

According to Gazete Pencere, Trabzonspor will line up with Onana in goal, behind a defence featuring Savic, Nwae, Bina and Mustafa.

Bouchouari and Aral are included in midfield, while Ruslan Malinovskyi, Metehan and Saviolo will also start. Onuachu completes the visiting side’s starting XI.

– Onana – Savic – Nwae – Bina – Mustafa – Bouchouari – Aral – Ruslan Malinovskyi – Metehan – Saviolo – Paul Onuachu

Kasımpasa have also announced their line-up for the fixture. Their team consists of Andreas, Aros, Eli, Yessen, Winck, Baldursson, Mendes, Diabate, Murtaza, Guven and Bendizik.

The home side’s selected XI is:

The fixture is Trabzonspor’s first match of the Turkish Super Lig season and gives Salah the opportunity to make his competitive debut from the bench, should he be introduced by Tekke during the game.

The decision to leave the Egyptian forward out of the starting group makes his role one of the main talking points before kick-off. Trabzonspor have instead placed their initial attacking responsibility on Onuachu, with support expected from the players named in the club’s midfield and forward positions.

Kasımpasa will begin the match with their own 11-man line-up, including Mendes, Diabate and Guven in the attacking and midfield selections named for the contest.

The opening round has already produced a notable result involving the reigning champions. Galatasaray began their defence of the Turkish Super Lig title with a 2-2 draw against Corum.
