Egyptian Football Association to redraw Second Division B groups for 2026-27
The Egyptian Football Association will redraw the groups for the 2026-27 Second Division B season on Thursday, 20 August, using Google Meet, after changes were made to the participation of some clubs in the competition.
The association has written to the clubs to confirm that the draw will be held online, with the four groups assigned separate start times.
The draw for Group One will begin at 13:00, followed by Group Two at 14:00. Group Three will be drawn at 14:30, while the process for Group Four is scheduled to start at 15:00.
The Egyptian Football Association said the link for the draw would be sent to the clubs on Thursday, 20 August, and ended its message by expressing its “highest respect” to the participating teams.
The decision to repeat the draw is part of the preparations for the start of the new Second Division B campaign. It follows amendments affecting the involvement of a number of clubs in the 2026-27 competition.
The Second Division B is the competition that provides a route into the Professional League, Egypt’s first division. The Egyptian Football Association has divided the teams into four main groups for the coming season.
Group One covers Upper Egypt and will itself be split into two sections: Group One A for North Upper Egypt and Group One B for South Upper Egypt.
The winner of each of those two sections will meet over two legs. The team that wins that tie will secure direct promotion to the Professional League.
Groups Two, Three and Four will each consist of a single section. Group Two represents Cairo and Giza, Group Three covers the Canal and Delta regions, and Group Four is for the Bahri area.
The top two teams from each of those three groups will qualify for a promotion play-off round for the Professional League. The six qualified teams will then play each other once in a single-round league.
At the end of that six-team play-off, the sides finishing first and second will earn direct promotion to the Professional League.
That system means three teams in total will be promoted from the Second Division B: one from the Upper Egypt section and two through the final promotion play-off round.
