Anis Hadj Moussa waits on England route after Al Ahli approach

Anis Hadj Moussa has reportedly turned down an approach from Al Ahli because the Feyenoord winger would prefer a move to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old Algeria international is believed to be interested in continuing his career in England, with that preference understood to have influenced his decision not to accept the Saudi Arabian club’s offer. Hadj Moussa would therefore only be prepared to leave Feyenoord if an English club makes an approach for him in Rotterdam.

Despite previous speculation that Feyenoord’s board had ended negotiations over the player’s future, no formal offer has yet been made by any club for Hadj Moussa.

Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United have both been linked with the right winger. However, those reports were quickly denied, and neither club has submitted a bid for the player.

Hadj Moussa remained involved with Feyenoord at the weekend, starting their 1-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam. He was replaced with 10 minutes remaining by Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

The forward joined Feyenoord from Patro Eisden in 2024 for a fee of slightly less than two million euros. He remains under contract with the Rotterdam club until the middle of 2030.

For now, the absence of a formal offer means Hadj Moussa’s position has not led to an immediate transfer. His reported preference for the Premier League, however, provides a clear indication of the type of opportunity that could persuade him to leave Feyenoord.

The interest from Al Ahli has not changed that stance. Instead, the winger is understood to be waiting to see whether an English club will make its interest concrete with an official proposal.

Any move would also have to be considered against the backdrop of his long-term Feyenoord contract, which runs until mid-2030. While rumours have connected him with Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United, those claims have not developed into a confirmed bid.

Hadj Moussa’s latest appearance came as Feyenoord secured the narrow win against Sparta Rotterdam. His inclusion in the starting line-up and participation until the closing stages underlined that he remains available to the Rotterdam side while his future continues to attract speculation.

At present, the main development is his reported decision to reject Al Ahli’s approach. The next step depends on whether a Premier League club moves beyond reported interest and contacts Feyenoord with an offer for the 24-year-old winger.
