Duncan Idehen: Worcester recruit former Farnborough defender

England-Nigeria centre-back Duncan Idehen has joined Worcester from Farnborough on a free transfer, adding a 24-year-old defender to the club’s squad for the 2026-27 season.

Idehen’s move was completed on 14 August 2026, shortly after his arrival at Farnborough from St Ives Town. He had joined Farnborough on 1 July, also on a free transfer, but spent only six weeks with the National League South club before switching to Worcester.

The London-born defender stands 1.87m tall and is left-footed. He has represented both England and Nigeria as his recorded nationalities, while his primary role is at centre-back.

Idehen began the 2026-27 campaign at Farnborough but did not make a league appearance before leaving. His move to Worcester follows a spell at St Ives Town, where he arrived after departing Derry City in August 2025.

The defender’s time at Derry came after a short loan spell with Ballymena United during the second half of the 2024-25 season. He joined Ballymena from Derry City on 3 February 2025 and returned to Derry at the end of that campaign.

Before moving to Northern Ireland, Idehen signed for Derry from Bristol City on a free transfer in August 2024. His time with Bristol City included loan spells at Yeovil Town, Carlisle United and Bath City between November 2023 and May 2024.

Idehen joined Bristol City from the club’s under-21 side in July 2022, having previously spent the first half of the 2021-22 season with Birmingham’s under-23 team. He had been without a club after leaving Grimsby Town in October 2021, following his progression from Grimsby’s under-18 side.

His earliest recorded youth move came in July 2019, when he switched from Norwich’s under-18 team to Lincoln City’s under-18s.

Idehen now continues his career with Worcester after completing his latest free transfer from Farnborough.
