Borussia Dortmund explore Christopher Nkunku transfer
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly exploring a move for Christopher Nkunku after abandoning their pursuit of Said El Mala.
The French attacker is expected to leave AC Milan this summer, only one year after joining the Italian club from Chelsea for approximately €37 million.
Nkunku has reportedly been placed on Milan’s transfer list and is also keen to find a new challenge. Because of his substantial salary, however, a loan deal currently appears more realistic than a permanent transfer.
Barcelona have already contacted the player’s representatives, according to L’Equipe. The Spanish champions could view Nkunku as a replacement for Ferran Torres, who is reportedly set to join Paris Saint-Germain for close to €50 million.
A return to Germany is another possibility. Leipzig, where Nkunku enjoyed the most productive period of his career, are described as interested. Between 2019 and 2023, he registered 70 goals and 56 assists in 172 appearances for the Bundesliga club.
Dortmund are also monitoring the versatile forward after stepping away from negotiations for El Mala. The club may instead pursue Genk attacker Giannis Konstantelias, while a return for former player Jadon Sancho is considered highly unlikely.
Nkunku’s next destination remains unclear, but several clubs are now competing for his signature.
