Djed Spence lands in Milan to seal Inter switch as Tottenham overhaul gathers pace

Djed Spence has arrived in Milan as he closes in on a move to Inter Milan from Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth £30 million.

The England international of Kenyan descent landed in Italy on Thursday night ahead of completing his transfer to the Italian champions, bringing his time in north London closer to an end.

Tottenham and Inter have reached an agreement for the defender, with the package understood to include add-ons. Spurs will also retain a 10 per cent sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs confirmed on Friday morning that Spence was set to formalise the move, with an official announcement expected this weekend.

Spence’s decision comes after Inter stepped up their pursuit following Denzel Dumfries’ move to Real Madrid. The Italian giants identified the Tottenham defender as their preferred option and made their interest clear over the past month.

The 25-year-old is now set to take on a new challenge in Serie A, with Inter offering him the opportunity to compete at one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Tottenham’s defensive reshuffle accelerates

Spence’s departure is part of a significant defensive reshuffle at Tottenham under new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

His exit would ease competition on the right side, where Pedro Porro remains a key option, while Spurs have several players capable of operating at left-back, including Destiny Udogie, Andy Robertson, Souza and Ben Davies.

The London club are also preparing for the departure of captain Cristian Romero, with Atletico Madrid agreeing a deal worth around £34.2 million for the Argentina international.

Romero is expected to become Atletico’s fourth signing of the summer despite reported interest from Arsenal, further underlining the scale of change taking place at Tottenham.

De Zerbi overseeing major Spurs rebuild

Spence and Romero are not the only significant departures from the Tottenham squad this summer.

Luka Vuskovic has already left the club permanently for Brighton & Hove Albion, adding to the list of defensive changes as De Zerbi begins reshaping his squad.

The Italian coach is keen to strengthen Tottenham with a number of high-profile additions, making this summer a defining period in the club’s transition.
