Musab Al-Juwayr sets Roshn Saudi League age landmark in Al-Qadsiah start

Musab Al-Juwayr reached a significant milestone in the Roshn Saudi League after starting Al-Qadsiah’s opening-round match against Al-Shabab.

The 23-year-old midfielder made his 100th appearance in the competition, according to football statistics provider Opta, having represented Al-Hilal, Al-Shabab and Al-Qadsiah in the league.

Al-Qadsiah manager Brendan Rodgers selected the Republic of Ireland coach’s preferred midfield playmaker in his starting XI for the fixture. By doing so, Al-Juwayr became only the second-youngest player to reach a century of Roshn Saudi League appearances.

He achieved the landmark at the age of 23 years and 54 days. The only player to reach 100 matches at a younger age is Fahad Al-Muwallad, the former Al-Ittihad star, who reached the milestone when he was 22 years and 67 days old.

Al-Juwayr’s appearance against Al-Shabab added his name to a select group of players to have reached 100 Roshn Saudi League matches before turning 24. His record has been built across three clubs and follows a career path that began at one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent football academies.

The midfielder started his development in Al-Hilal’s youth system before being promoted to the first team. He later moved to Al-Shabab on loan, gaining further experience in the top flight, before completing a permanent transfer to Al-Qadsiah at the beginning of the previous season.

He has since established himself as one of the leading Saudi players in midfield. His inclusion from the start against Al-Shabab provided the setting for a notable personal achievement as Al-Qadsiah began its Roshn Saudi League campaign.

The milestone also places Al-Juwayr directly behind Al-Muwallad in the competition’s age records. While Al-Muwallad remains the youngest player to reach 100 league appearances, Al-Juwayr has become the latest Saudi midfielder to enter that group after featuring for three different clubs.

The match was played during the first round of the Roshn Saudi League, with Al-Juwayr’s selection by Rodgers ensuring that his 100th league appearance came as a starter rather than from the substitutes’ bench.
