Haissem Hassan completes Celtic switch after Real Oviedo spell

Egyptian-French winger Haissem Hassan has joined Celtic from Real Oviedo, moving to the Scottish Premiership club on 12 August 2026.

The 24-year-old right winger has signed a contract with Celtic that runs until 30 June 2030. Hassan, who is left-footed, arrives after two seasons with Real Oviedo, where he played in Spain’s second tier and helped establish himself as a regular attacking option.

Hassan made 139 appearances in LaLiga2 during his career, scoring eight goals and providing 14 assists. He also featured 39 times in LaLiga, registering three assists, giving him experience across Spain’s top two divisions before his move to Scotland.

His spell at Real Oviedo began in August 2024, when he joined from Villarreal in a €1.5m transfer. Before that, Hassan had spent time with Sporting Gijon on loan during the 2023-24 campaign, making appearances in both domestic competition and the promotion play-offs.

The move to Celtic takes Hassan into a new league after a career spent largely in France and Spain. Born in Bagnolet, he developed in the Paris FC youth system before joining Chateauroux’s academy. He moved into Chateauroux’s senior set-up and later transferred to Villarreal in 2020.

Hassan subsequently spent time with Villarreal’s reserve side and had a loan spell at CD Mirandes before returning to the club. He made the move to Sporting Gijon in 2023, returning to Villarreal at the end of that season before switching to Real Oviedo the following summer.

At international level, Hassan represented Egypt and France by nationality and appeared twice at the 2026 World Cup, providing one assist. His tournament involvement came before his move to Celtic.

The arrival adds a winger with experience in Spain’s professional divisions and international tournament football to Celtic’s squad. Hassan’s contract commits him to the Glasgow club through the end of June 2030, completing his move from Real Oviedo.
