Al-Hilal make formal offer for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen

Al-Hilal have made a formal offer to sign Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, according to Sky Sports, as the Saudi club explore a major move for the Nigeria international during the current transfer window.

The approach is understood to have been made to establish the conditions required for a deal, with Al-Hilal seeking to determine whether they can bring Osimhen to Saudi Arabia.

Osimhen only recently completed a permanent move to Galatasaray after the end of his loan spell. His future is now the subject of renewed transfer speculation, with Al-Hilal considering whether to make him one of the most significant additions of the current market.

Sky Sports reported that Galatasaray had received an official proposal from Al-Hilal for the striker. Earlier reports had suggested that the Turkish club would be prepared to allow Osimhen to leave if their valuation was met, with a fee of 65m euros reportedly set as the amount required for them to approve a sale.

However, the latest response from Galatasaray is that they do not intend to sell Osimhen this summer. That position could make any potential transfer difficult, despite Al-Hilal’s formal approach and interest in understanding the terms of a possible agreement.

Al-Hilal are also examining how to create space for Osimhen within their squad. As part of that process, the Saudi club are considering the possibility of Karim Benzema leaving the team.

The club’s proposed plan is to see Benzema depart and then complete the signing of Osimhen, provided they can secure the Nigerian forward’s approval for the move. The potential transfer therefore depends both on Galatasaray’s position and on whether Osimhen is willing to join Al-Hilal.

The two developments reported around Galatasaray’s stance that the club could accept a departure for 65m euros and that it does not plan to sell the player this summer leave the striker’s situation unresolved. Al-Hilal’s offer has nevertheless opened the possibility of a move, with discussions expected to determine whether the initial approach develops into a formal transfer agreement.
