Stellenbosch face Devin Titus exit as Ashley Du Preez return boosts Morocco transfer hopes

Stellenbosch FC may be ready to sanction a multimillion-rand transfer for Devin Titus after Ashley Du Preez returned to the club from Kaizer Chiefs.

Titus, who has scored 34 goals in all official competitions for Stellenbosch, is the subject of strong interest from Moroccan Botola Pro champions Maghreb de Fes. The forward signed a new long-term contract with the South African club in January 2026, but reports claim Maghreb de Fes have triggered his buyout clause in an attempt to complete an immediate transfer.

The possible move has gained further attention following conflicting reports about Titus’s next club.

SABC Sport reported that Titus had joined Tshegofatso Mabasa at MAS FES. However, Moroccan publication Anbaetv reported that both MAS FES and Raja Casablanca are interested in the Stellenbosch striker.

MAS FES are understood to be building a squad capable of making an impact in preparation for their African Champions League campaign. The Moroccan club will begin that competition on 5 September, when they face Burkina Faso’s Rahimo at the honorary stadium in Meknes.

Should Maghreb de Fes complete the deal, Titus would become the second South African to join the club, following Mabasa. The Moroccan side are known as the Yellows and were crowned champions of Morocco last season, finishing ahead of RS Berkane, Raja Casablanca and FAR.

That success, along with the prospect of playing in the African Champions League, is likely to make Maghreb de Fes an attractive destination for Titus, who has established himself as one of Stellenbosch’s most productive attacking players.

Du Preez’s return could nevertheless give Stellenbosch greater flexibility in deciding whether to sell their leading forward. His arrival provides additional attacking depth and may reduce the immediate impact of losing Titus during the transfer window.

The former Stellenbosch player has returned from Kaizer Chiefs, creating the possibility that the club can now cash in on its prized asset without leaving a significant gap in its forward line.

Titus’s contract extension had appeared to strengthen Stellenbosch’s position, particularly with a buyout clause in place. But if the reports from Morocco are accurate, Maghreb de Fes have taken the first formal step towards securing his services.

For now, the precise destination remains unclear, with reports linking him to both MAS FES and Raja Casablanca. Maghreb de Fes, however, remain the club most directly associated with a potential agreement, while the return of Du Preez has added to speculation that Titus’s time at Stellenbosch could be coming to an end.
