Golden Arrows forward backs Siyanda Ndlovu to make his mark at Mamelodi Sundowns

Golden Arrows forward Nduduzo Moli believes Siyanda Ndlovu has the character and ability to succeed at Mamelodi Sundowns after completing a surprise move to the club during the current transfer window.

Ndlovu’s transfer to Masandawana came after he had appeared set to join Orlando Pirates. The Soweto club were ultimately beaten to his signature in one of the biggest twists of the window.

The move follows an outstanding spell with Abafana Bes’thende, during which Ndlovu established himself as one of the standout performers in the Betway Premiership.

Moli, who played alongside Ndlovu at Golden Arrows, believes the player’s approach to learning will be central to his progress at Mamelodi Sundowns. He described Ndlovu’s attitude as his biggest strength and said the new signing is not afraid to seek advice from his teammates when he encounters difficulties.

“He easily teachable, and he asks a lot what can help him for him to get better,” said Moli.

The Golden Arrows forward recalled an occasion when Ndlovu needed help dealing with defenders who had begun to find ways of stopping him.

“I remember one time when he complained that the defenders can mark him now, we had to tell him what to do.

“He’s a fast learner and I believe that even at Sundowns, he will gel with other teammates.”

Moli said Ndlovu’s willingness to take guidance and adapt should help him settle into a new environment at Mamelodi Sundowns, despite the increased expectations that come with the move.

The pair also discussed where Ndlovu is best suited to play. Moli regards him primarily as a winger, but believes he can also be effective in the number 10 role.

“One v one [as a winger] he will finish you, but coach Manqoba was using him as a number 10,” he added.

“He wanted his mobility and breaking the lines.”

Ndlovu’s ability to operate in more than one attacking position formed part of his role at Golden Arrows. While Moli highlighted his threat in one-on-one situations from the wing, he also pointed to the value of his movement and his capacity to break lines when deployed centrally.

Moli is confident those qualities will allow Ndlovu to adapt alongside his new teammates and compete for a role at Mamelodi Sundowns following the move that ended speculation linking him with Orlando Pirates.
