PSG face Aston Villa in UEFA Super Cup: kick-off time, TV channel and how to watch
Paris Saint-Germain will begin their European campaign with a UEFA Super Cup meeting against Aston Villa at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg on 10 August 2026.
Kick-off is scheduled for 20:00 GMT, with the match bringing together the reigning UEFA Champions League winners and the UEFA Europa League holders. It is the second successive season in which PSG have faced an English club in the competition.
The match will be shown on Canal+ in France and Canal+ Sport Afrique across Africa. Viewers in Germany and the United Kingdom can watch on Amazon Prime Video, while the United States broadcast will be shared by Paramount+, CBS, Fubo, DAZN and TUDN/ViX. DAZN will carry the game in Canada, Stan Sport in Australia, TNT Sports in Brazil and ESPN across Latin America.
It will be the first meeting between the two sides since their UEFA Champions League quarter-final in April 2025. Aston Villa won the second leg 3-2 at home on 15 April, but PSG progressed after a 3-1 victory in Paris six days earlier gave them a 5-4 aggregate success.
The result in that tie also began a strong run for PSG against English opposition in Europe. They have gone unbeaten in their past 10 matches against clubs from England, recording nine victories and one draw.
Contrasting preparations
PSG lifted the previous UEFA Super Cup after beating Tottenham on penalties. They now have the opportunity to become the first club since Real Madrid in 2017 to retain the trophy.
The Paris club have had a relatively quiet summer, making only two signings. Their preparations have also ended without a win, with one draw and one defeat, while a shortened pre-season means several players are managing physical issues.
Aston Villa are returning to the UEFA Super Cup 43 years after winning the trophy for the first time against Barcelona in 1982. The game will be Unai Emery’s fifth continental final, although the manager has lost his previous three finals in this competition.
Villa arrive after a difficult build-up, having suffered three defeats against major European clubs during pre-season. They are also weakened by the absence of important midfield players and are still adjusting to the departures made during the summer.
PSG’s limited match fitness could make the contest difficult, but their squad depth and the return of their international players are viewed as significant advantages. Against a Villa side who have lost key midfield figures and are still searching for cohesion, PSG are expected to have more control of the game’s tempo.
Africafoot’s prediction is a 2-1 victory for PSG.
Betting company 1xbet lists PSG as favourites at 1.75 to win. A draw is priced at 3.90, while Aston Villa are rated at 4.50.
