Zamalek exclude Ahmed Mahmoud from plans for new season

Zamalek have informed Ahmed Mahmoud that he is no longer part of the club’s plans for the upcoming 2026/27 season, with the player leaving the team’s pre-season training camp.

Mahmoud had been involved with the squad since the beginning of Zamalek’s preparations for the new campaign and was part of the team’s training camp following the recent break.

However, after the players returned to training, football director Abdel Nasser Mohamed informed the defender that the technical staff had decided not to include him in their plans for the new season.

As a result, Mahmoud has now left the club’s training camp as Zamalek continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new campaign.

Despite his exclusion from the team’s plans, the player’s contract with Zamalek has not yet been terminated.

The two parties are expected to hold further discussions in the coming hours in an attempt to reach a final agreement over a financial settlement that would pave the way for the termination of his contract.

Mahmoud still has one year remaining on his current deal, which is scheduled to run until the summer of 2027.

His departure would therefore require an agreement between the player and the club regarding the financial terms of the settlement before his contract can officially be ended.

Zamalek are currently making adjustments to their squad as they prepare for the 2026/27 season, with the technical and administrative departments assessing the available players and making decisions on those who will remain part of the first-team plans.
