Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni misses first training session with minor muscle problem

Aurelien Tchouameni has returned to Real Madrid with a minor muscle problem and was unable to take part in training on Monday, according to Spanish radio station COPE.

The France midfielder had been due to rejoin his club after completing a rest period following his involvement with France at the 2026 World Cup. However, the issue prevented him from taking part in Real Madrid’s first session after his break.

Tchouameni is expected to train individually over the next few days as he manages the problem. Despite missing the opening session, the report says the 26-year-old is expected to begin the new season without any injury concerns.

Real Madrid have already begun their preparations for the 2026-27 campaign, with the club working towards the start of the new La Liga season on 15 August.

The club’s training session on Monday also marked the first appearances of Ibrahima Konate and Marc Cucurella since joining their new team. Both players took part in their first session with Real Madrid after completing moves during the summer.

Konate arrived at the Spanish club after his contract with Liverpool expired at the end of the season. Cucurella joined Real Madrid from Chelsea, giving the club two new defensive options ahead of the campaign.

Monday was also the first day back in training for Kylian Mbappe following his rest period after representing France at the World Cup. His return adds another high-profile figure to Real Madrid’s preparations as the club builds towards the opening league fixture.

The trio of Konate, Cucurella and Mbappe will begin the new season under head coach Jose Mourinho. Real Madrid started their pre-season work several weeks ago, while the latest training session brought further members of the squad back into the group after their international commitments.

Tchouameni’s individual programme is expected to keep him away from the team sessions for the coming days, although the report indicates that the midfielder should be available without major difficulty when the season begins.

Real Madrid’s preparations are taking place against the backdrop of a busy summer for the squad. The club have welcomed Konate and Cucurella, while established players including Mbappe and Tchouameni have returned after France’s World Cup campaign.

The 2026-27 La Liga season begins on 15 August, leaving Real Madrid with a limited period to complete their preparations. For now, the club’s main concern is managing Tchouameni’s minor muscle problem while continuing to reintegrate players who have returned from international duty and rest.
