Araklı mayor offers Mohamed Salah land after Trabzonspor move

Araklı mayor Cebi has offered Mohamed Salah a plot of land in the Turkish district, telling the new Trabzonspor forward that it could become one of the best places to live in the future.

Speaking to Salah during the Egypt international’s unveiling as a Trabzonspor player, Cebi said: “Living in Egypt will become more difficult in the future, while our region will be one of the most habitable areas and will also be the least affected by global warming.”

He added: “We would like to offer Mohamed Salah a beautiful plot of land here and provide him with a wonderful place where he can live with his sons and grandchildren, without any problems relating to water.”

The comments were made during a major presentation ceremony for Salah at Trabzonspor’s stadium, following his move to the Turkish club.

Salah signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor on Thursday morning and was presented to supporters later that day at a large event held at the club’s ground.

Trabzonspor said Salah will receive an annual salary of 10m euros, alongside a 7m-euro signing-on fee. The guaranteed value of the agreement is therefore 17m euros.

The contract also includes performance-related financial incentives linked to the player’s displays during his time with the club.

Trabzonspor further confirmed that Salah will receive 20% of the revenue generated by official merchandise sold in his name. The player’s agent will receive a five per cent commission, according to the published details of the contract.

Salah told supporters at his presentation: “I have never experienced anything like this in my life. I thank everyone who welcomed me in this way.”

He continued: “I am here to win, and I will give everything I have to achieve victories with this club. Thank you for this affection, and I am very excited to start this adventure.”

The former Liverpool forward also said: “Over the past two days, I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to you for this wonderful welcome.”

He concluded: “I am extremely happy to be here and I thank everyone. I would also like to thank the club president for his support and confidence.”

Salah spent nine seasons with Liverpool before joining Trabzonspor. During his time at Anfield, he made 315 appearances, scoring 257 goals and providing 120 assists.

His arrival has been accompanied by a high-profile reception from the club and the local community, with the Araklı mayor’s offer of land adding to the attention surrounding the transfer. The proposal was presented as a gesture intended to give Salah and his family a future home in the region, particularly in an area Cebi described as well equipped to deal with future environmental and water-related challenges.
