Former Morocco international Abderrazak Khairi believes Neil El Aynaoui has made the right decision by moving to Leipzig, saying the 25-year-old midfielder needed regular playing time to continue developing and show his ability.
Khairi, who was part of Morocco’s squad at the 1986 World Cup, told Maghreb-Foot that the transfer should benefit both the player and the German club.
He believes El Aynaoui would have faced a difficult situation had he remained at AS Rome, where his opportunities may have been limited to a place on the substitutes’ bench. In Khairi’s view, moving to Leipzig gives the midfielder a better chance of playing consistently.
The former Lions of the Atlas player also considers El Aynaoui’s style well suited to the tactical principles of the German side. The move will give the midfielder the opportunity to play in the Bundesliga and compete in the Champions League.
Khairi did, however, acknowledge that RB Leipzig are going through a period of change under a new manager. He played down the potential difficulties of that transition and maintained his support for the transfer.
RB Leipzig are due to face Real Madrid in their third match of the Champions League league phase.
For that fixture, the betting company 1xbet lists Leipzig at 11,00 to win, with a draw priced at 7,00 and Real Madrid at 1,22.
