Algeria goalkeeper Luca Zidane closes in on Leganés move from Granada

Algeria international goalkeeper Luca Zidane is on the verge of joining Leganés, with the Spanish club closing in on an agreement with Granada for the 28-year-old’s transfer.

The move is expected to bring an end to Zidane’s two-year stay at Granada, despite the goalkeeper still having one year remaining on his contract with the Andalusian club.

If the deal is completed, he will remain in Spain’s second division as he begins another chapter in his career.

According to transfer specialist Ángel García, Granada and Leganés are in the final stages of negotiations, with only the remaining details of the agreement yet to be resolved.

The proposed deal is expected to be completed without a fixed transfer fee. Instead, the clubs are reportedly discussing a structure that includes several performance-related clauses.

Another option under consideration is the mutual termination of Zidane’s contract with Granada before he completes his move to Leganés.

The transfer would see the Algerian international continue his career in familiar surroundings after spending the last two seasons with Granada.

Zidane joined the club in the summer of 2024 from Eibar in a transfer reported to be worth €500,000. During his time with Granada, he established himself as an experienced member of the squad and featured regularly across domestic competitions.

The former Real Madrid academy goalkeeper made 45 appearances in all competitions during his spell with the Andalusian side before preparations began for a possible departure this summer.

His experience at club level has also been complemented by his international career with Algeria.

Zidane has earned 10 caps for the national team and recently represented the North African nation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further strengthening his profile on the international stage.

Now, with negotiations between Granada and Leganés progressing, the goalkeeper appears set to continue his career in the Segunda División rather than seek a move abroad.

For Leganés, the potential arrival of Zidane would add an experienced goalkeeper with extensive knowledge of Spanish football and valuable international experience.
