Luca Zidane transfer to Leganes awaits final signature

Leganes are close to completing the signing of Algeria goalkeeper Luca Zidane from Granada, with the move understood to be agreed by all parties and only the formal paperwork still outstanding.

According to AS, citing sources close to Leganes, Zidane’s transfer could be officially completed on Friday. The agreement is expected to be a permanent move rather than a loan, with Leganes paying a small fee to Granada.

The deal will also include additional payments linked to the goalkeeper’s performances, although the precise value of those bonuses has not been disclosed.

Zidane’s arrival would complete Leganes’ 25-man first-team squad and increase the urgency surrounding the club’s goalkeeping plans. The Madrid-based side are therefore keen to finalise the deal as quickly as possible.

The situation has been complicated by the unresolved future of goalkeeper Juan Soriano. As previously reported by AS, Leganes informed Soriano some time ago that they did not want him to remain at the club.

However, rather than making it easier for the goalkeeper to leave, the club subsequently began asking for a transfer fee in return for his departure. That issue has become increasingly difficult over time and remains a factor in Leganes’ efforts to settle their goalkeeping options.

Zidane is expected to provide the solution. He played 27 matches for Granada last season and started every one of those games, conceding 33 goals in the process.

The report gives Zidane’s age as 28 at one point, while later referring to him as 27. He remains under contract with Granada until the summer of 2027, meaning Leganes are arranging a transfer rather than simply taking over an expiring agreement.

With the clubs and player said to have reached an understanding, the final signature is the only remaining step before the move can be announced. Should that happen on Friday, Leganes will have completed their first-team squad and resolved the immediate uncertainty surrounding the goalkeeping position.

For Granada, the agreement would bring Zidane’s spell with the club to an end despite his regular involvement last season. For Leganes, it would add a goalkeeper who was a consistent starter in the previous campaign while allowing the club to bring its squad-building process to a close.
