Celtic make new £6m offer for Haissem Hassan as talks with Real Oviedo continue

Celtic have moved closer to an agreement with Real Oviedo for the signing of Egypt international Haissem Hassan after submitting an official offer worth £6m, according to Sky Sports Scotland.

The proposal includes add-ons that could increase the overall value of the transfer by a further £3m. However, negotiations between the Scottish champions and the Spanish club have not yet been completed.

Sky Sports Scotland reports that there is growing optimism a deal can be reached, despite the discussions having continued for a considerable period. Hassan is understood to be keen on a move to Celtic, and personal terms are not expected to cause difficulty if the two clubs settle the remaining details.

The 24-year-old is a priority target for Celtic as they look to strengthen on the right wing. The club are seeking a left-footed player capable of operating from that side, having been unable to sign Fares Ghedjemis from Frosinone after the Italian club rejected a £6m bid.

Celtic are expected to turn their attention to a left winger once a deal for Hassan has been concluded. Utrecht player Adrian Blake is reportedly top of their list of possible targets for that position.

Spanish reports suggest Real Oviedo are reluctant to allow Hassan to leave unless his full release clause is paid. That clause is set at €12m, although Celtic’s latest proposal is understood to be worth £6m initially, with another £3m available through performance-related additions.

Oviedo are also aware that Villarreal, Hassan’s former club, would receive 40% of any transfer fee. That arrangement is another factor in the Spanish side’s efforts to secure the strongest possible financial terms for his departure.

Hassan played twice for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup. He provided the assist for one goal against Argentina and also played a part in another impressive effort, although that goal was disallowed after a review by the video assistant referee.

At club level, Hassan helped Oviedo win promotion to the Spanish top flight. The club, however, returned to the second tier after only one season in La Liga.

He made 38 appearances for Oviedo during the previous campaign, recording three assists but failing to score. Celtic’s interest comes as the club continue to reshape their attacking options in the summer transfer window, with the right-wing position currently their most pressing priority.
