Vinicius Junior commits future to Real Madrid with six-season contract extension

Real Madrid have announced that Brazil forward Vinicius Junior has renewed his contract with the club, keeping him at the Spanish side until 30 June 2032.

The agreement, confirmed by Real Madrid on Thursday through an official statement, will see Vinicius continue his career at the club for a further six seasons.

Vinicius joined Real Madrid from Brazilian club Flamengo in July 2018, having turned 18 shortly before making the move. Since then, he has made 375 appearances for the club and scored 128 goals.

The forward has won 14 trophies during his time at Real Madrid. His honours include two Champions League titles, three Club World Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.

Real Madrid highlighted Vinicius’ significant contribution to those successes, pointing in particular to his goals and assists during the club’s most important matches.

He scored in both of the Champions League finals won by Real Madrid during that period. Vinicius found the net in the 2022 final in Paris, before also scoring in the 2024 final in London.

The club’s statement also listed the individual awards collected by the Brazil international. He was named the 2024 FIFA The Best Men’s Player and was voted the outstanding player at the 2024 Intercontinental Cup.

Vinicius was also recognised as the 2023-24 Champions League Player of the Season and won the Golden Ball at the 2022 Club World Cup. Earlier in his career, he was named the Champions League Young Player of the Season for 2021-22.

His recognition has extended to several annual team selections. Vinicius was included in FIFA’s 2024 Best XI and was selected twice for the FIFA FIFPro World11, in 2023 and 2024.

He has also been named in the Champions League Team of the Season in three consecutive campaigns.

The contract extension secures the future of one of Real Madrid’s most influential attacking players. The club said Vinicius had become one of its most important figures and one of the leading symbols of one of the most successful periods in its history.

His continued presence represents a long-term commitment from Real Madrid to a player who has played a decisive role in the team’s recent achievements since arriving from Flamengo as a teenager.
