Bilal Boutobba joins Eyüpspor after impressive spell in Saudi Arabia
Algerian winger Bilal Boutobba has completed a return to Turkish football after signing for Süper Lig club Eyüpspor following his spell in Saudi Arabia.
The 27-year-old joins the newly promoted Turkish top-flight side after spending the previous season with Al-Najma in Saudi Arabia’s second division, where he looked for a fresh challenge away from Europe.
Boutobba is no stranger to Turkish football, having previously impressed during his time with Hatayspor. His performances in the Süper Lig helped him establish himself as an effective attacking player, recording 11 goals and three assists in 28 league appearances.
The winger also made an impact in the Turkish Cup, contributing one goal and four assists in just two matches during the competition.
Those performances have convinced Eyüpspor to move for the French youth international of Algerian descent as they prepare for life in Turkey’s top division. The club sees Boutobba’s experience and attacking qualities as valuable additions to their squad.
A naturally left-footed player who usually operates from the right side of the attack, Boutobba is expected to provide creativity, technical ability and a direct threat in the final third.
The move represents another chapter in a career that has taken him through several countries and leagues. Boutobba began his football education at Olympique de Marseille before continuing his development in Spain with Sevilla Atlético.
He later returned to France, where he represented clubs including Montpellier, Niort and Clermont. During his time in Ligue 2, the winger produced impressive numbers, scoring 21 goals and providing 19 assists in 107 appearances.
After his experience in Saudi Arabia with Al-Najma, Boutobba has now chosen to return to a league where he previously enjoyed success.
His move to Eyüpspor offers him the opportunity to rediscover his best form and become an important attacking figure once again.
Eyüpspor, who recently earned promotion to the Süper Lig, are aiming to establish themselves among Turkey’s top clubs and believe Boutobba’s experience can help them compete at the highest level.
For the Algerian winger, the challenge is to build on his previous performances in Turkey and prove that he can remain one of the league’s influential attacking players.
