Stellenbosch FC eye South Africa Under-20 champion Gopolang Taunyana
South African defender Gopolang Taunyana, currently with Kaizer Chiefs II, has been linked with a move to Stellenbosch FC in the Betway Premiership.
The reported interest in the 20-year-old centre-back is dated 6 August 2026, with Taunyana remaining a Kaizer Chiefs II player. The rumour does not represent a confirmed transfer, and no agreement or fee has been reported.
Taunyana joined Kaizer Chiefs II from the club’s youth setup on 1 October 2024. He has since been listed as a centre-back for the reserve side, which remains his current club.
The defender was part of the South Africa Under-20 team that won the Under-20 Africa Cup in 2025, the only honour recorded in his playing record. That success came during his development at youth and reserve level, before the reported link with Stellenbosch.
The potential move would keep Taunyana in South Africa, with Stellenbosch identified as the interested club. The Betway Premiership side’s reported interest comes while the player remains contracted to Kaizer Chiefs II, although the length of his current deal has not been disclosed.
For now, Taunyana’s status is unchanged: he remains a Kaizer Chiefs II centre-back, with Stellenbosch FC’s reported interest yet to develop into a confirmed transfer.
