Galatasaray weigh move for Nice midfielder Salis Abdul Samed after exit permission

Salis Abdul Samed has been allowed to look for a new club by OGC Nice, with Galatasaray among the teams considering a move for the Ghana international before the summer transfer window closes.

The 26-year-old midfielder has struggled for regular playing time at Nice and is no longer viewed as a central part of the club’s plans. According to Footy-Africa, Galatasaray are keeping a close watch on his situation as they assess possible additions to their midfield.

The Turkish champions have not yet made a formal offer for Abdul Samed. However, officials in Istanbul are examining several options to strengthen the area and could decide to act for the Ghanaian if the circumstances become favourable in the coming weeks.

Abdul Samed joined OGC Nice with significant expectations but has been unable to reproduce the form he showed during his time with RC Lens. His reduced role has increased the prospect of a departure, with both the player and the French club understood to be considering a separation that could offer him the opportunity to revive his career.

During the previous Ligue 1 campaign, Abdul Samed made only 18 appearances. The limited number of matches has underlined his diminished status at Nice and left the midfielder looking for a fresh opportunity elsewhere.

He remains under contract with OGC Nice until June 2028. Transfermarkt values him at €4m, a figure that could make a potential deal accessible to Galatasaray if the Turkish club chooses to move forward with its interest.

A switch to Galatasaray would give Abdul Samed the chance to compete for a more prominent role at an ambitious club and seek to rebuild the reputation he established in Ligue 1. His performances for RC Lens had previously made him a well-regarded midfielder in France, but he has not been able to reach the same level since arriving at Nice.

Abdul Samed earned an annual salary of €840,000, equivalent to 546,000,000 FCFA, during his time with Sang & Or. His existing contract means any transfer would require an agreement between OGC Nice and a potential suitor.

For now, Galatasaray’s interest has not progressed to the stage of an official bid. The club’s decision will depend on how its midfield recruitment plans develop and whether the conditions surrounding Abdul Samed’s possible departure become favourable before the end of the summer window.
