Trabzonspor in talks to sign Darwin Nunez from Al-Hilal
Trabzonspor are negotiating a loan deal for Darwin Nunez from Al-Hilal, with the Turkish club having reached a preliminary agreement to cover about 40% of the striker’s salary, according to reports in Turkey.
The move has not yet been completed, with discussions continuing between Trabzonspor and the player. The club are seeking to strengthen their squad after signing Mohamed Salah and are targeting further additions in attack and defensive midfield.
Nunez is understood to be the leading name under consideration as Trabzonspor look to bring in a new forward. The club also want to recruit a midfielder who can operate in the number six position, with both areas expected to be addressed in the coming days.
Turkish media reports say the proposed arrangement would see Nunez join Trabzonspor on loan from Al-Hilal. While there is reported initial approval for the deal, the two parties must still reach a final agreement.
Trabzonspor are hopeful that Mohamed Salah’s arrival could help persuade Nunez to make the move and reunite with his former Liverpool team-mate. The pair previously played together at Liverpool before Nunez left the club for Saudi Arabia.
Nunez moved to Saudi Arabia last season in a deal reported to be worth 54m euros. However, he has not produced the level of performance expected since the transfer and is said to be keen to rediscover his form.
Trabzonspor had also considered a move for Dusan Vlahovic, but have abandoned that option after the coaching staff were not convinced by the Juventus striker’s recent physical and technical condition.
The club’s summer recruitment programme remains focused on adding players who can provide an immediate improvement. Alongside the pursuit of Nunez, Trabzonspor’s hierarchy are continuing to assess options for the holding midfield role.
Any agreement for Nunez would initially be structured as a loan, with Trabzonspor taking responsibility for a significant portion of his wages rather than the full amount. The reported figure of 40% is part of the preliminary understanding and could still be subject to further negotiations.
Trabzonspor’s interest in Nunez comes as the Turkish club attempt to build a stronger squad around their latest attacking arrival, Mohamed Salah. Their negotiations with Al-Hilal and the player remain ongoing, and the proposed transfer has yet to reach its final stage.
