CAF Appeals Committee overturns Samuel Eto’o ban and fine after AFCON 2025 incident

Cameroonian football legend and Football Federation president Samuel Eto’o has secured a major legal and administrative victory after the CAF Appeals Committee overturned the disciplinary sanctions imposed on him following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The decision brings an end to a lengthy disciplinary process that stemmed from the highly charged quarter-final clash between Cameroon and Morocco at the continental showpiece, with Eto’o now cleared of all sanctions previously handed down by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker had been punished by the CAF Disciplinary Committee in the aftermath of the encounter between the Indomitable Lions and the Atlas Lions.
