Kaly Sene transfer interest: Young Boys consider Middlesbrough forward

Kaly Sene, the Senegalese forward currently with Middlesbrough, has been linked with a move to Swiss Super League club Young Boys.

The 25-year-old centre-forward joined Middlesbrough from Lausanne-Sport on 29 August 2025 and is under contract until 30 June 2029. The English club paid €1.75m for Sene, whose current market value is listed at €2m.

Sene has made 28 Championship appearances for Middlesbrough, scoring twice. He has also played in Switzerland, having joined Lausanne-Sport from Basel in July 2023 on a free transfer.

A move to Young Boys would represent a return to the Swiss top flight, where Sene previously recorded 32 goals and 13 assists in 110 Super League appearances. His earlier career included spells with Basel and Grasshoppers, while he spent part of the 2020-21 season on loan at Omonia Nicosia and won the Cypriot league title.

Sene began his senior career after moving from Italian club Vanchiglia to Juventus Under-19s in January 2019. He subsequently joined Basel before developing his experience across Switzerland and Cyprus.

The reported interest from Young Boys comes less than a year after Sene’s move to Middlesbrough. With the striker’s contract running for three more seasons, any potential transfer would involve a player who remains tied to the Championship club.
