Mohamed Salah set for Trabzonspor move as club reveals star-studded squad

Mohamed Salah is closing in on a move to Trabzonspor during the current summer transfer window, with the Turkish club announcing that the Egypt international had arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday evening for talks over joining the team.

Salah was also seen wearing a Trabzonspor shirt, signalling that an official announcement confirming the signing could be close. If the deal is completed, he will join a squad that includes former Manchester United and Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana, Atletico Madrid captain Stefan Savic and Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu.

The move would see Salah share a dressing room with several familiar names from his career, as well as players who have made their mark in major European competitions.

Andre Onana

Onana joined Trabzonspor on loan last season before the move was made permanent.

Salah has faced the Cameroon goalkeeper several times in the past, but always as an opponent during Onana’s time at Manchester United. Their relationship would now change, with the pair set to become team-mates in Turkey.

Stefan Savic

Savic moved to Trabzonspor in 2024 after spending several years with Atletico Madrid. He is now the captain of the Turkish side.

The Montenegro defender has already played alongside Salah. The two were together at Fiorentina in 2025, meaning Trabzonspor’s reported new signing would be reunited with a former team-mate.

Sidney Cabral

Sidney Cabral was one of Cape Verde’s leading players at the 2026 World Cup.

He scored an impressive goal for Cape Verde against Argentina during the tournament. A left-back, Cabral would provide another notable international presence in Trabzonspor’s squad.

John Lundstram

During that period, the midfielder became a popular selection because he regularly delivered useful points while being available at a relatively low price. He is now among the players who could line up alongside Salah at Trabzonspor.

Ruslan Malinovskyi

The Ukraine international is one of Trabzonspor’s midfielders and previously impressed in Italy’s Serie A during his spell with Genoa.

Malinovskyi’s experience at the highest level of the Italian game adds further quality to a team preparing for the new season.

Paul Onuachu

Onuachu is described as Trabzonspor’s leading striker and has been with the club since 2023.

The Nigeria international continues to receive regular call-ups to his national team. He previously played with Egypt forward Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” when Trezeguet was a Trabzonspor player.

Salah’s arrival would therefore add another prominent attacking figure to a squad that already contains international players, experienced defenders and familiar names from the Premier League and European football. The club’s announcement of his arrival in Istanbul, together with his appearance in a Trabzonspor shirt, suggests that the formal confirmation of the transfer may be imminent.
