Seifeddine Jaziri in talks with Hatta following Zamalek departure

Seifeddine Jaziri is close to deciding his next club after ending his time with Zamalek, with newly promoted Hatta emerging as the leading destination for the Tunisia international.

Zamalek confirmed on Monday that it had reached an agreement with Jaziri to terminate his contract by mutual consent. The Egyptian club said all financial and contractual matters relating to the deal had been settled, despite the striker’s agreement originally being due to run until the end of next season.

Just hours after the separation was announced, reports in the United Arab Emirates indicated that Jaziri could continue his career with Hatta. Abu Dhabi Sports Channels said on Tuesday, in a post on its official account on X, that the UAE club was close to completing a deal for the 33-year-old forward.

Hatta have recently secured promotion to the professional division and are now understood to be prioritising Jaziri as they work to strengthen their squad. The club had also been close to signing Anatole Abang, the Cameroon striker from Libyan club Al-Ittihad, but decided not to proceed with that option.

Instead, Hatta have turned their attention to Jaziri and are moving forward with plans to bring him to the UAE. The proposed switch would add another country to a career that has already taken the striker across Tunisia, Egypt and, potentially, the United Arab Emirates.

Jaziri began his senior career in Tunisia, where he represented Club Africain and US Ben Guerdane. He later moved to Egypt, playing for Tanta and Al Mokawloon Al Arab before joining Zamalek.

His most significant spell came at Zamalek, who he joined in January 2021. During his time with the Cairo club, Jaziri won the Egyptian Premier League three times.

He also established himself as Zamalek’s all-time leading foreign goalscorer, underlining the importance of his contribution during his stay at the club. His departure was confirmed after the two parties completed the arrangements required to bring the contract to an early end.

Jaziri’s possible move to Hatta would therefore represent the next stage of a career that has included several clubs in North Africa and a series of important achievements in Egypt. Although the agreement has not yet been formally announced, the UAE side is reported to be close to securing the Tunisia striker after switching its focus away from Abang.

The move would see Jaziri join a Hatta team preparing for life in the professional division, while Zamalek begin the next phase of their squad planning following the departure of a player who became the most prolific foreign scorer in the club’s history.
