Stellenbosch FC complete permanent signing of Given Msimango from Kaizer Chiefs

Stellenbosch FC have completed the permanent signing of Given Msimango from Kaizer Chiefs, with the 29-year-old defender becoming the latest player to move between the two Betway Premiership clubs.

Msimango arrives in the Cape Winelands as part of a wider swap deal involving Ashley Du Preez and Langelihle Phili. Du Preez is also moving to Stellenbosch, while Phili is heading in the opposite direction to Kaizer Chiefs.

The centre-back was confirmed as a Stellenbosch player after saying goodbye to Kaizer Chiefs on Monday. He was unveiled by his new club today, marking the next stage of a professional career that has included spells with Highlands Park, TS Galaxy and Chiefs.

“Stellenbosch FC is pleased to announce the signing of defender Given Msimango on a permanent transfer from Kaizer Chiefs.

“The 29-year-old centre-back arrives in Stellenbosch with extensive experience to his name, having made more than 150 appearances across spells with Highlands Park, TS Galaxy and Chiefs during his professional career.

“Msimango will wear the No. 30 jersey this season and could be in line to make his debut when Stellenbosch FC take on Polokwane City in the Betway Premiership on 11 August.”

Msimango joined Kaizer Chiefs from TS Galaxy in 2023. During his time with Amakhosi, he made 53 appearances for the club, including 13 appearances in the previous campaign.

His move to Stellenbosch gives the club a defender with considerable experience in South African football. Across his spells with Highlands Park, TS Galaxy and Kaizer Chiefs, he has made more than 150 professional appearances.

Stellenbosch FC have allocated Msimango the No. 30 shirt for the new season. His first opportunity to play for the club could come against Polokwane City in the Betway Premiership on 11 August.

The deal also completes another part of the player movement between Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs, with Du Preez joining Msimango at the Cape Winelands club and Phili moving to Amakhosi.

For Msimango, the transfer brings an end to his spell with Kaizer Chiefs, whom he joined after leaving TS Galaxy in 2023. For Stellenbosch FC, it adds a central defender whose career has included more than 150 appearances and experience at three clubs.

Stellenbosch FC’s announcement confirms the permanent nature of the transfer and identifies Msimango as a first-team option ahead of their upcoming Betway Premiership fixture against Polokwane City.
