Ghana forward Prince Ampem scores as Shanghai Port fight back to beat Zhejiang Professional
Ghanaian forward Prince Ampem continued his impressive scoring form with a goal as Shanghai Port came from behind to beat Zhejiang Professional 4-2 in the Chinese Super League on Friday, October 9.
Ampem struck in the 18th minute to put Shanghai Port ahead after the hosts recovered from an early setback, helping them secure an important victory in front of their home supporters.
Shanghai Port fell behind in the seventh minute when defender Alex Yang inadvertently turned the ball into his own net to give Zhejiang the lead.
The hosts responded quickly, with Óscar Melendo restoring parity six minutes later before Ampem completed the turnaround with a clinical finish to make it 2-1.
Shanghai Port maintained their momentum after the break, extending their advantage through Liu Zhurun in the 47th minute and Leonardo nine minutes later to take control at 4-1.
Zhejiang reduced the deficit in the 72nd minute when Alexandru Mitriță converted a penalty, but Shanghai Port held on to claim all three points.
The goal takes Ampem’s tally to seven across 23 appearances in all competitions this season, underlining his growing importance to the Chinese side.
The Ghanaian has scored four times in the domestic league, while his season also includes an impressive hat-trick in the AFC Champions League Elite in September.
Ampem will now look to maintain his scoring touch as Shanghai Port continue their campaign, with the forward increasingly making his mark through decisive contributions in attack.
