Former Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa joins Moroccan champions MAS Fes

Former Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has completed a move to Moroccan champions MAS Fes ahead of the upcoming football campaign.

The South African forward arrived in Morocco on Monday night to finalize the transfer and is expected to undergo a medical examination before putting pen to paper. He is expected to sign a three-year contract with the North African club.

Mabasa leaves Orlando Pirates after a memorable spell with the Buccaneers, where he established himself as one of the club’s most prolific forwards. Despite scoring a record 50 goals for the Soweto giants, Pirates opted not to renew his contract, allowing him to leave as a free agent.

The striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Stellenbosch FC after falling down the pecking order at Pirates. However, his proven goalscoring pedigree continued to attract interest from clubs both within and outside South Africa.

MAS Fes moved quickly to secure his signature as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The Moroccan champions are preparing for another demanding campaign and believe Mabasa’s experience and eye for goal will add quality to their attacking department.

The move marks Mabasa’s first venture outside South African football and presents him with an opportunity to showcase his talent in one of Africa’s most competitive leagues.
