Pyramids FC set for major squad changes as Rulani Mokwena approves three more departures

Egyptian giants Pyramids FC are reportedly preparing for further squad changes, with three players expected to leave the club following recommendations from head coach Rulani Mokwena.

The Cairo-based side are believed to be reshaping their squad ahead of the new campaign, with several players already departing and more exits expected as Mokwena continues to build a team capable of competing on both domestic and continental fronts.

Among those set to leave is striker Marwan Hamdi, who has attracted interest from clubs in the Gulf region, Libya and Iraq. The 29-year-old forward is reportedly closest to a move to Iraq, with his next destination expected to be confirmed in the coming days, according to Egyptian publication Al-Masry Al-Youm.

Hamdi’s potential departure comes as Pyramids continue their search for a new striker following the exit of Fiston Mayele, who recently left the club. The team are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Mokwena is also said to have recommended the departure of defender Abdo Gouda, either on loan or through a permanent transfer, as part of his plans to adjust the composition of the squad.

Nigerian midfielder Samuel Amusan is another player reportedly set to leave after the South African coach gave the green light for his exit, with reports suggesting the player is no longer considered part of the technical plans at the club.

The latest departures would add to a growing list of players who have already moved on from Pyramids, including goalkeepers Sherif Ekramy and Ahmed Mayhoub, defenders Tarek Alaa and Ali Gabr, and attackers Emad Mayhoub and Mayele.

Pyramids Prepare for New Season in Turkey

Pyramids FC are currently undergoing pre-season preparations in Turkey as they get ready for a demanding campaign that will see them compete in domestic competitions and continental tournaments.

The Egyptian club will face Kuwaiti side Al-Arabi SC on Tuesday before concluding their friendly schedule with another match on Saturday, August 8. They are expected to return to Cairo the following day to continue preparations for the new season.

With Mokwena overseeing the rebuilding process, Pyramids are aiming to assemble a squad capable of challenging for major honours after an active period of changes in the transfer market.
