ES Metlaoui strengthen midfield with Tunisia international Mohamed Ameur Belghith

Mohamed Ameur Belghith, the 25-year-old Tunisia defensive midfielder, has joined ES Metlaoui from AS Gabes.

Belghith’s move to the Ligue 1 club was completed on 3 August 2026, with his contract running until 30 June 2027. The transfer follows one season at AS Gabes, where he arrived from ES Zarzis in August 2025.

The midfielder has established extensive experience in Tunisia’s top flight, making 47 Ligue 1 appearances and playing 2,705 minutes. He has also featured twice in the Tunisian Cup.

Belghith began his senior career with US Monastir and spent time away from the club on loan at CS Tabarka and SC Moknine. He later joined Taweek Club on loan before returning to US Monastir in June 2024.

His move to ES Zarzis followed that return, with Belghith joining the club as a free transfer in July 2024. After a season there, he switched to AS Gabes before making his latest move to Metlaoui.

The transfer gives ES Metlaoui another experienced option in defensive midfield as the club prepares for the 2026-27 Ligue 1 campaign. Belghith’s arrival also continues a series of moves between Tunisian clubs during his career.

He has represented Tunisia at club level through his domestic career, with Etoile Sportive Metlaoui now becoming his latest side.

Belghith has completed his move from AS Gabes to ES Metlaoui and is contracted to the club until June 2027.
