QPR sign Finland midfielder Glen Kamara from Rennes on loan

QPR have signed Finnish-Sierra Leonean midfielder Glen Kamara from Stade Rennais on loan until 30 June 2027.

Kamara, 30, joins the Championship club after spending the first part of his career in English football before establishing himself in Scotland and moving abroad. The central midfielder made the switch to QPR on 3 August 2026, with the agreement scheduled to end at the conclusion of the 2026-27 season.

He arrives from Rennes, where he had been since joining the French club from Leeds in July 2024 for a fee of €10m. Kamara spent part of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab before returning to Rennes.

The Tampere-born player has recorded 150 appearances in the Scottish Premiership, along with 37 Championship appearances and 32 in the Europa League. His career record also includes 20 League Cup matches, 17 Ligue 1 appearances and 13 outings in the Saudi Pro League.

Kamara began his senior career in England after progressing through Arsenal’s youth system. He joined Dundee from Arsenal’s under-23 side in July 2017 on a free transfer, then moved to Rangers in January 2019 for €55,000.

His time at Rangers brought the midfielder the major honours of his career so far. He was part of the side that won the Scottish Premiership title in the 2020-21 season and the Scottish Cup in 2021-22. He was also named Footballer of the Year in 2022 while with the Glasgow club.

Kamara subsequently joined Leeds from Rangers in August 2023 for €5.8m, before moving to France the following summer. His previous experience includes spells with Colchester United and Southend United, both on loan from Arsenal, as well as youth football at Southend and Arsenal.

A right-footed midfielder standing 1.78m tall, Kamara gives QPR an experienced option in central midfield as the club prepare for the new Championship campaign. His move to Loftus Road is a loan from Rennes running through to 30 June 2027.
