Petrojet to change crest and play at New Suez Stadium after merger with Montakhab El-Suez

Petrojet will change its club crest and use New Suez Stadium as its main home ground after completing a merger with Montakhab El-Suez, the club’s football supervisor Mohamed Ayman has told FilGoal.com.

Petrojet and Montakhab El-Suez announced that they would combine to form one team which will compete in the Egyptian Premier League next season.

The merger is intended to bring together the two clubs’ football operations, with the new team set to represent Suez in the top flight. Ayman said the club was also appealing to supporters in the governorate to get behind the side following its return to the Premier League.

“After the merger, the club crest will be changed and our main stadium will be New Suez Stadium,” Ayman told FilGoal.com.

“We call on the fans of Suez to support their team in the Premier League, and we are happy to return to representing Suez governorate.”

The change in identity and home venue will be among the first steps taken as the merged club prepares for the new campaign. The announcement means Petrojet will no longer operate with its existing crest once the merger is implemented.

Ayman added that work was continuing to assess the strongest players from Montakhab El-Suez, with particular attention being paid to the club’s youth section. The two youth structures are also expected to be brought together as part of the wider process.

“The work is still continuing to select the best elements from Montakhab El-Suez, especially in the youth sector, in order to achieve the best structure after merging the two sections,” he said.

The future of players who are not retained by the merged club has also been discussed. Ayman said Petrojet had alternative plans for those footballers, although the club would first seek to implement those ideas before deciding whether to place every unselected player on the market.

“What about the Suez players who will not be selected? We have ideas that will be put forward, and if we are unable to implement them, we will market all the players immediately once the football company is established,” he said.

The reference to a football company points to a further organisational step that could follow the merger. Ayman did not provide details of the proposals, but said the players’ future would be addressed as the new structure took shape.

Montakhab El-Suez had been due to compete in Second Division B during the next season. Instead, the merger with Petrojet means the combined team will take part in the Egyptian Premier League, while preparations continue to determine its squad, crest, stadium arrangements and youth setup.
