Montakhab El Suez Petrojet agree deal to sign Aboubakar Lyadi from Al Ittihad Alexandria

Montakhab El Suez Petrojet have reached an agreement to sign Al Ittihad Alexandria player Aboubakar Lyadi, with the 23-year-old set to join the club as part of their squad reinforcements for the new season.

Lyadi can operate both as a right-back and as a right winger, giving Montakhab El Suez Petrojet an option in two positions on the right side of the pitch. The agreement was confirmed on Monday, 3 August 2026.

The Nigerian has been playing in the Egyptian league since January 2022, when he joined Smouha. He moved to Al Ittihad Alexandria last season after spending time with the Alexandria-based club.

During his spell at Smouha, Lyadi made 60 appearances in all competitions. He scored two goals and provided three assists during that period.

He then went on to play 26 matches in all competitions for Al Ittihad Alexandria. The defender and winger contributed to six goals, scoring twice and setting up four more.

His move to Montakhab El Suez Petrojet is expected to form part of the club’s preparations for the forthcoming campaign. The agreement adds further competition for places on the right flank, where Lyadi’s ability to play in both defensive and attacking roles could be useful.

Lyadi’s proposed transfer comes as Egyptian clubs prepare for the next stage of the domestic season. The draw for the Egyptian Premier League is scheduled to take place on Wednesday at 15:00 local time.

The 23-year-old’s career in Egypt began with Smouha in January 2022, before his transfer to Al Ittihad Alexandria last season. Across his two clubs, he has accumulated 86 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and registering seven assists.

Those figures include his 60 matches for Smouha and 26 appearances for Al Ittihad Alexandria. For the latter, he produced six goal contributions, with two goals and four assists, while his Smouha record consisted of two goals and three assists.

Montakhab El Suez Petrojet have now agreed terms to bring the Nigeria international to the club, although the report does not state when the transfer will be formally completed. The agreement represents the latest move involving a player who has spent more than four years in Egyptian football.

The Egyptian Premier League draw will be held at 15:00 on Wednesday, two days after the agreement was reported.
